A Work of Art - "Brilliant flashes of colors, bold strokes of emotion, inspired to create visually exciting movement, adventuresome with an energy that pulsates throughout her work - meet Veronica Ruiz de Velasco. Vivacious, sensuous and one of the most talented and youngest female artist to be shown in the Museum of Modern Art in Mexico City. Meeting Veronica is like being hit by a bolt of lightening - dynamic and passionate, she personifies her work through every brushstroke. Her vitality, magnetism and bold adventuresome spirit are evident in each and every painting of her collection. Her ability to combine soft, alluring brushstrokes, flirting with soft pastels with layer upon layer of deep passionate rich oils creates a life force of its own. One painting after another reaches out and commands attention - each striking a chord in the melodic rhythm of Veronica Ruiz de Velasco’s work. Inspired by the work of some of the great masters such as Cezanne, Michelangelo and others, Veronica is blessed with the ability to transcend technique - her paintings are alive and a tribute to her incredible talent. An exciting addition to our cultural community, Ms. Velasco has recently relocated to Dallas from her beloved home in Mexico City. With an impressive following and admiration from her peers, Veronica was commissioned to create a mural for the Rockefeller Collection, and paintings for President Clinton and for Hugh Hefner, She has also received the honor of having the great grandson of world-renowned painter, Claude Monet, purchase one of her paintings, "Dancer". Ms. Velasco stands among some of the finest, fresh new artists who are recognized for their genius among the masters. Inaugurated by Prince Charles of Great Britain and Charles Pilliot, former Ambassador for the United States, Veronica will not soon be forgotten. Having a heritage as varied as her demeanor, Veronica’s Grandparents originated from Spain and France. Her parents relocated to Mexico City where they had 18 children. All of whom, according to Veronica were gifted by God in so many ways. Apparently, God gave Veronica many gifts as well. Striking to look at with a poise and charm befitting Queen Elisabeth, Veronica did not realize at an early age the talent that lay dormant within her. Not only an exceptional artist, Veronica is also an outstanding beauty and person. Spirited and absolutely delightful to know, she does not appear to even notice her own exquisite beauty when speaking of her younger years as a model. What clearly is important to this deep, sensitive woman is the beauty and truth within herself. If ever there was an "old soul" blessed with the wisdom of the centuries, Veronica Ruiz de Velasco is the essence of the ages and has come to us to share her love of the life through her work. Renowned Maestro, Teodulo Romulo, happened upon Veronica’s sketches. Embracing her talent, Romulo immediately recognized how gifted the young girl was and offered Veronica lessons to learn more about technique. What transpired changed Veronica’s life forever. A prominent citizen a good friend of Veronica’s family believed her paintings were exceptional and suggested she meet with the curator at the Gallery of Lourdes Chumcaero ( one of Mexico’s most prestigious galleries). After viewing some of Veronica’s paintings, the gallery agreed to have one exhibition and requested Veronica to paint sixty paintings. Not only did Veronica sell all sixty paintings at her first exhibition, but many famous artists who attended, such as Teodulo Romulo, Thomas Parra, Martha Chapa, Gilberto Aceves Navarro, were so impressed with her work, they invited her to paint with them to learn "her technique and vision for fresh color." Life Style Magazine is proud to introduce this magnificent artist as an exciting addition to the cultural renaissance we are experiencing as a result of the spectacular growth occurring throughout the Metroplex… - By: Eden Rain in LifeStyle Magazine, January 1997.
